RecFish presents itself as a valuable tool for anglers seeking to enhance their fishing experience through advanced technology. This free application facilitates the accurate identification and documentation of fish catches by allowing users to simply take a photo or select one from their gallery. Leveraging sophisticated image-recognition software and machine-learning algorithms, RecFish boasts the capability to identify various fish species instantaneously, even in offline mode.

Currently, RecFish has the ability to recognize 100 distinct fish species with an impressive accuracy rate of 95%. Users are encouraged to contribute to the app's improvement by uploading their fish photos and providing feedback on the accuracy of the identification. This collaborative effort is vital for expanding the app's database of species and enhancing its precision.

Importantly, RecFish operates without any associated costs, ensuring that users face no upfront fees, in-app purchases, or advertisements. The development and sustainability of this project have been significantly supported by competitive grants from the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation, alongside contributions from NOAA and the Virginia Institute of Marine Science's Dean & Director's Innovation Fund, as well as by engaging recreational anglers.
